VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — FTCC volleyball added two more tallies to the win column Saturday, Oct. 5, in a tri-match at Bryant & Stratton.
The Trojans topped Davidson County CC 25-8, 25-15 and 25-19 before moving on to sweep the Bobcats 25-18, 25-17 and 25-22.
The Trojans’ winning streak stands at five with two more roads wins in a five-match stretch before FTCC returns home Oct. 12.
Freshman Alexis Spexarth led the way up front for the Trojans, landing 12 of the team’s 38 kills. McKenzie Smith notched 10, and Da’Nya McPhatter had nine, with each recording a .375 kill percentage for the match.
McPhatter also had a pair of solo blocks and two block assists.
Libero Kristen Woods had 15 digs, and setter Krislyn Bullard added 11. Bullard recorded 36 assists and served a pair of aces.
Against Bryant & Stratton, the Trojans took advantage of a slew of errors by the Bobcats, who racked up 24 errors on attack and 15 on serve.
When the Bobcats did move the ball, the Trojans were ready. Setter Krislyn Bullard, along with 15 assists, recorded a match-high 11 digs.
Alexis Spexarth connected for five kills, and McKenzie Smith had four.
Smith also had two solo blocks and three block assists.
The Trojans remain on the road for a key conference match against Pitt CC on Oct. 8 and at Rockingham CC on Oct. 10 before returning home for a tri-match against Louisburg College and USC Salkehatchie on Oct. 12.
