How Working for Yourself Can Work
Fayetteville, NC – If you’re considering self-employment, you may not know where to start. AARP Foundation’s Work for Yourself@50+TM guides you through a series of steps to prepare you for launching a self-employment venture. One of the most important parts of the program is an interactive workshop that helps you take a clear-eyed look at whether working for yourself really is right for you. In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop a business plan, create rock-solid financials, and work one-to-one with a coach to meet your needs.
This free, two-hour online webinar will be hosted by the Fayetteville Technical Community College Small Business Center on April 27, 2021, and June 16, 2021.
Many people require the more structured environment of traditional employment. If that’s the case for you, you might consider another AARP Foundation program called BACK TO WORK 50+, which offers job search training, coaching and other resources so that you’ll be equipped to compete successfully for today’s in-demand jobs.
But if you’re ready for self-employment, Work for Yourself@50+ is there to help you identify the right options for you and point you to additional resources to help you get started. The free workshops and free online toolkit detail five simple steps you should take as you begin your journey.
Working for yourself can seem like a solitary venture. Work for Yourself@50+ ensures that you’re never really going at it alone. As one program participant puts it, “It was helpful to hear stories of people my own age. My view of self-employment has been enhanced.”
