Nine Fayetteville Tech student-athletes have earned NJCAA All-Academic honors for the 2019-20 school year.
The association announced this year’s recipients Friday, recognizing 9,555 students across all sports. The national designation is awarded to players who finish the academic year with a GPA of 3.60 or higher.
Sophomore baseball player Zach Tanner earned All-Academic First Team honors for charting a 4.0 for the year.
Four Trojans earned All-Academic Second Team honors for finishing with GPAs between 3.80-3.99. Baseball players Parker Crews, Vince Larsen and Dylan Bruce earned the mark, as did volleyball player Kristen Woods.
All-Academic Third Team honors, awarded to players with GPAs from 3.60-3.79, went to four Trojans. Volleyball’s Jill Recod earned the distinction for a second year. Softball players Makyiah Mitchell and McKenzie Miller and baseball’s Cyrus Jacobs were third-team honorees.
“NJCAA student-athletes proved that no obstacle is too difficult to overcome,” stated NJCAA President & CEO Dr. Christopher Parker. “These difficulties pushed our student-athletes to the limit this year, but the opportunity to overcome these challenges presented itself, and our student-athletes flourished academically. The association commends all individuals for their continued success on the playing surfaces and in the classrooms.”
