JAMESTOWN, N.C. — Fayetteville Tech men’s basketball outlasted Guilford Tech on the road on Nov. 26 for 101-100 double-overtime victory.
Freshman guard Collin Lewis led the Trojans with 25 points, including four 3-point goals and a 5-for-6 performance from the foul line.
The Trojans blew an nine-point halftime lead, and Guilford Tech, powered by a 42-point showing from Brandon Burford, roared back in the second half.
The Titans sunk a basket as the horn blew at the end of regulation to push the game to overtime.
Even play during the first overtime period pushed a second extra frame, and the Trojans just edged the Titans in the final period, outscoring Guilford Tech 8-7 to claim the win.
With the victory, the Trojans improve to 3-4 overall and even at 2-2 in Region 10 Division II.
A strong rebounding performance from the Trojans sealed the win. FTCC notched 51 boards to Guilford Tech’s 38.
Freshman George Jones Jr. and Donte Johnson each recorded double-digit rebound totals, pulling down 11 and 10, respectively. Each player recorded his first double-double. Jones ended the night with 16 points, and Johnson scored 17.
The win puts the Trojans back on track after a stumble at Louisburg last week, giving FTCC three wins in their last four games.
The Trojans continue on the road Saturday with at trip to Vance-Granville CC. They make a stop at Lenoir CC on Dec. 4 before returning home Dec. 8 to host Bryant & Stratton.
