Fayetteville Technical Community College and the North Carolina Military Business Center are proud to host the Defense Technology Symposium on July 26, 2022, at the Tony Rand Student Center on FTCC’s Fayetteville campus.
The DTS will highlight the advanced technology needs of the Department of Defense (DoD) and the correlating capabilities of the innovation ecosystem in North Carolina and the Southeast. The DTS will establish a dialogue and partnerships between industry, academia and government to address the future technology needs of America’s warfighters.
The event will be hosted by Senators Richard Burr and Thom Tillis, FTCC, the NCMBC, the North Carolina Defense Technology Transition Office and the North Carolina Board of Science, Technology & Innovation.
Gen. Andrew Poppas, who became commanding general of the U.S. Army Forces Command earlier this month, will deliver the keynote remarks.
Other scheduled speakers include Sen. Tillis, Brigadier Gen. (Ret.) Jack Haley, the Association of the U.S. Army’s vice president for membership and meetings, Jared Summers, chief technology officer for the XVIII Airborne Corps, and NCMBC Executive Director Scott Dorney.
“The DTS offers a unique opportunity for industry innovators to engage one-on-one with military commands and agencies and to hear their needs and requirements for new technologies,” Dorney said. “Innovative businesses doing R&D or developing new products across a broad spectrum of industries – medical, textiles, aerospace, IT, AI/ML, energy, etc. – should attend and leverage this opportunity to also develop connections across the North Carolina innovation ecosystem.”
Attendees will enjoy the benefit of participating in a single-day, single-location event to meet and interact with government leaders, academic partners and industry innovators. The DTS will provide opportunities to discover solutions to gaps and problems and a chance to expand connections within North Carolina’s innovation ecosystem.
The day’s agenda includes four panels: North Carolina: Frontier of the Future, Defense Research and Development Resources, Government Innovation Initiatives and Military Technology Needs and Trends.
