James Sanders III

Fayetteville Technical Community College Communications Instructor James Sanders III has been selected to appear in Marquis Who’s Who in America. Sanders joined FTCC as a Communications Instructor in January 2023 with two decades of experience in the classroom.

Marquis Who’s Who, which was established in 1898, publishes biographies of notable and accomplished organization leaders. According to its website, the Marquis Who’s Who family of directories include biographies of “today’s leaders and achievers from the United States and around the world, and from every significant field of endeavor.”

Sanders certainly fits the bill. Driven by a “mission to inspire, empower, and transform lives through education and communication,” he’s shaped an impactful professional career.

“Being listed among accomplished educators, innovators, and thought leaders is a tremendous honor, and I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Fayetteville Technical Community College on such a distinguished platform,” Sanders said. “As an educator dedicated to empowering students through communication and leadership, my inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who serves as an acknowledgment of the work we do to transform lives through education.”

Among his recent highlights, he was selected as the keynote speaker for FTCC’s 62nd Commencement Exercises in May, delivering remarks to thousands in attendance at the College’s morning and afternoon ceremonies.

His message was one of empowerment, reminding students of their ability to generate positive action in the world.

“As you prepare to embark on the next chapter of your journey, I urge you to remember that your education is not for your benefit alone,” he said. “It is a powerful tool to mark a positive impact on your communities and to be able to make meaningful change in the world.”

In addition to his role as an instructor, Sanders serves as a motivational speaker, a radio host, and a mentor in the college’s Y.E.S. Initiative (You + Effort = Success) for students. In all of his ventures, his goal is to educate, empower, and create opportunities for students and other community members.

As co-host of “The Cross Over,” a Fayetteville radio program, he facilitates conversations that promote understanding and aim to bridge divides.

Sanders holds a Master of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from New York Institute of Technology, a Master of Arts in General and Special Education from Touro College, and a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Old Westbury.
