Fayetteville, N.C. — Fayetteville Technical Community College is pleased to announce that Dr. Kenjuana McCray has been named Dean of Arts and Humanities.
In this capacity, Dr. McCray will work to ensure quality instruction and effective student learning in course offerings across several departments.
Dr. McCray has served the college for 15 years in various roles, including faculty member; Program Coordinator for Political Science, Psychology and Sociology; and Lead Program Coordinator of Social Sciences & Humanities. Dr. McCray has also served on several committees at FTCC including the Faculty Professional and Instructional Development Committee (Chair) and the Faculty Staff Council.
Dr. McCray is also actively engaged in the local community. In 2019, she made history in the Town of Hope Mills as the first African American elected official to serve on the Board of Commissioners and she is also the first female mayor pro-tem. Dr. McCray was recognized as a Fayetteville Observer 40 Under 40 recipient and received the FTCC Teaching in Excellence award in 2018. In addition, Dr. McCray serves on the board of the Arts Council of Fayetteville-Cumberland County and the advisory board of the Hope Mills branch of the State Employees Credit Union. Her community involvement also includes volunteering with the Fayetteville State Alumni Association, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Lewis Chapel Girl Scout Troop, along with numerous other community organizations.
Dr. McCray has two children, Zaire, a graduate student, and Amaya, who’s 12. Dr. McCray received both her bachelor’s degree in political science and her master’s degrees in sociology from Fayetteville State University. She completed her doctorate in educational leadership at Capella University. As a graduate of the college transfer program at FTCC, Dr. McCray is honored to serve in this new role.
