Baseball traveled to Winterville, NC this past weekend to face the Bulldogs of Pitt Community College for a conference series. The Trojans took game one on Friday, but the Bulldogs swept on Saturday to take the conference series.
FTCC vs. Pitt CC:
Game One- 6-1, Win
The Trojans scratched across six runs in nine innings, scoring one run in four innings and two in the ninth.
Jack Anderson (Saint Simmons Island, GA) threw a four hit gem, giving up one run in six innings. Xander Davis (Carolina Beach, NC) came on in relief throwing the final three innings, giving up just one hit.
The Trojans scored first in the fourth inning taking advantage of a Bulldog error. JJ Faulkner (East Arcadia, NC) walked and then scored on a ball hit to left field by Lucca Pascarella (Wilmington, NC).
Pitt tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth but the Trojans took the lead again in the fifth. Devin Outlaw (Jacksonville, FL) hit a one out double followed by a single from Myles Odom (Pleasant Garden, NC). Outlaw scored on a two out infield single from Zamar Lewis (Dublin, NC).
Pascarella smashed a triple to right field to be the Trojans third run on an RBI single from Josiah Harrison (Chesterfield, VA).
Odom led off the seventh with his second single of the game followed by a walk from Clayton Bloomstran (Altanta, GA). Odom scored on an RBI groundball from Cole Feldman (Midlothian, VA).
The final two runs of the game started off with Outlaw reaching on a error and a double from Odom. Bloomstran hit a sacrifice fly to plate one and the other came from another Lewis single.
The Trojans finished the game with 12 hits and five stolen bases.
Game Two- 4-14, Loss (6-innings)
The Bulldogs took an early lead scoring four runs in the first inning and one more in the second to lead 5-0.
The Trojans put one on the board in the third from a Bulldogs error and three in the fourth to pull the game within one.
In the fourth, Outlaw hit a one out single before Odom hit a two-run home run. With two outs, Lewis then went yard for his own solo homerun.
The Bulldogs responded in the bottom of the inning scoring six and pulling the game out of reach and scored their final three runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game early.
Game Three- 0-4, Loss
The Bulldogs held the Trojans to only two hits in game three, Bloomstran singled in the sixth and Harrison singled in the seventh.
Pitt scored one run in the fourth and three more in the sixth to take the series.
Jackson Rosser (Broadway, NC) threw five innings for the Trojans and Jacob Chavis (Pembroke, NC) finished the final inning.
Baseball is on the road this Wednesday to Virginia to play a single nine inning game against Paul D. Camp Community College at 2pm. They are back at home this weekend for their next conference series against Brunswick Community College starting at 12pm Saturday for a doubleheader and a single game Sunday at 1pm.
