Women’s Softball
This past week, the Women’s Softball team took on Southeastern Community College in a double-header on Thursday, April 11. During game one, Fayetteville Tech was able to get their bats going early, with doubles in the 1st inning by Taylor Brown and Sierra Mitchell. A homerun in the 3rd inning by Ashley Naylor had the Trojans up 4-2 after the 4th. The ht was Naylor’s 7th homerun of the season. Ashley Loftin pitched a great game for the Trojans, striking out three and allowing no hits in both the 4th and 7th innings when the game was on the line. Southeastern was able to pull together in the 5th and 5th innings to go up 8-6. Unfortunately, the Trojans could not get their bats going to rally in the final innings. The final score was 6-8.
Game two started rock for the Trojans when 8 runs were given up in the first 3 innings. A pair of homeruns by Southeastern and defensive errors put FTCC behind from the start. Grayson Lewis pitched the first 3 innings for FTCC, with Ashley Loftin coming in for the last 4 innings. Loftin only allowed 2 hits on the day and held the Rams at 8 runs. For the Trojans, Ashlee Naylor had two big hits on and scored one run. Katlyn Naylor (added to the roster for spring softball) and Hayden Smith hit back-to-back doubles in the 1st inning, and the Trojans were able to score 4 runs in the first 3 innings. The final score was 4-8.
Men’s Baseball
On April 13, the Men’s Baseball Team was up for the challenge while traveling to play against the No. 2 team int he conference, Southeastern Community College. Tamiris Palmer was able to strike out 2 batters in the first 3 innings. Bruce Elmore came in to relieve Palmer in the 3rd, allowing no runs to score for the next 4 innings. Aaron Revels was able to rob a homerun in an amazing defensive play for FTCC. The Trojans were able to keep the game close until the 8th inning, when Southeastern started hitting the ball well. The Trojans continue to improve their hitting with each game. The final score was 4-8.
On April 14, the Trojans played another 9-inning game with Southeastern Community College Rams. The Rams’ bats were hot during the game, producing 16 hits. The Trojans were down 3-7 through the first 6 innings. Nakelon Bowie came up big for the Trojans in Saturday’s game, going 2-4 with 3 RBI’s. Charles Jordan and Johnnie Lowery also hit great on the day. Jordan was 3-4 with tow doubles, a single, and an RBI. Lowery had a deep triple in the 4th inning. Tyler Dove and Trevan Locklean were on the mound, trying to slow down the Ram’s bats. This past week was certainly a test for the first-year team, but there were many positives to take away. The final score was 3-13.
Coming Up This Week
Trojan Baseball is out of town at 6 p.m. at Florence Darlington Technical College on Wednesday, April 17, and will be away at Guilford Tech on Friday (April 19) at 1 & 3 p.m. and Saturday (April 20) at Noon.
Women’s Softball will play a double-header at home (Freedom Christian Academy) vs Louisburg College on Thursday, April 18, at 2 & 4 p.m.
