Volleyball traveled to New York this past weekend to play four games at Monroe College. They took off on Thursday and explored the city on Friday before playing games the following two days. The girls had the support from a bunch of family and friends who made the trip to New York to cheer them on. 

The Trojans had another successful weekend, winning three games out of four before returning home to North Carolina. Volleyball is now at a 6-2 start on their season going into conference play. 

Game 1: FTCC vs. Montgomery College (W, 3-1)

The Trojans came out strong on day one outscoring the Raptors by 25 points. Hannah Spexarth (Fayetteville, NC) led with 26 kills, while Morgan Brady (Fayetteville, NC) contributed 13 kills and 3 service aces. Aliyah Brown (Fayetteville, NC) had 26 of the teams 93 digs and Jaqueline Woosley (Fayetteville, NC) racked up 52 assists, her highest on the season.

Game 2: FTCC vs. Harford CC (W, 3-0)

In game two, the Trojans were matched up with another Maryland team: Harford Community College. They took all three sets from the Fighting Owls to end their first day of competition. Brady led the team with 8 kills and 3 assisted blocks, while Woosley contributed another 28 assists. Brown and Sydney Conklin (Fayetteville, NC) each had 2 services aces. Defense was led by Spexarth with 12 digs and Sonjai Guiles (Georgetown, SC) with 2 blocks.

Game 3: FTCC vs. Monroe College (L, 0-3)

To start off day two, the Trojans were matched up with host team, Monroe College. They gave a hard fight in set two but ended up short to the Mustangs. Woosley ended with 16 assists and Brady with 7 kills. Guiles and Olivia Johnson (Wilmington, NC) each had 2 service aces while Spexarth had 6 digs.

Game 4: FTCC vs. FIT (W, 3-0)

After a tough loss in game three, the Trojans came out strong against FIT taking 3 sets in a hurry. Guiles led with 8 kills, 3 blocks and 2 service aces. Brown contributed 8 digs while Spexarth had 7 of the team’s 35 kills. Woosley added another 28 assists and Brady had 4 service aces.
