Head Coach
Brian Hurd
Coach Brian Hurd is in his fifth season overseeing the Trojan men’s basketball team. He hails from Lee County and attended Central Carolina Community College. He was the associate head coach for men’s basketball for eight season at Central Carolina Community College, where his duties included recruiting, player development, practice planning, and executing the day-to-day operations for the basketball program.
Hurd takes pride in the relationships he has built with his student-athletes, and he has helped several to further their academic and athletic careers under scholarships at various four-year programs. Hurd and his wife, Laura, have two children, Cadenze and Trey.
Assistant Coach
Deshawn McCain
Coach Deshawn McCain is a native of Creedmore, N.C., where he graduated from South Granville High School. He attended Wilkes Community College and then Ohio Valley University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and a Masters of Education.
McCain’s first coaching job was at Belpre High School in Ohio, where he was on staff two seasons. He also spent two years as an assistant coach at Ohio Valley. McCain returned to his home state of North Carolina in 2016 when he was hired as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Fayetteville State. He served three seasons as an assistant for the Broncos.
Coach McCain is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He has two sons, Malachi and Elijah.
