Personal: Arenivas has been playing baseball since first grade. He’s also a student pilot. Completing his first solo flight, on the day after his 16th birthday, he has to keep the trip short because he had a baseball tournament. Arenivas has been a volunteer with the St. Pauls Fire Department for the past three years and has assisted and rescued people impacted by Hurricanes Florence and Matthew. He is studying automotive systems technology at FTCC.

Personal: Playing baseball since the age of three, Barker strives to show passion for the game everyday… and set an example for young people that anything is possible with hard work. “No one can stop you from achieving your dreams,” he says. A transfer from Lenoir Community College to FTCC, Barker is studying nursing and hopes to pursue a career in physical therapy or sports medicine.

Personal: Nicknamed “Bo” by his mom, Bodine was born near Chicago and traveled extensively with his family (his bucket list now includes visiting all 50 states), before calling South Carolina home. He has played baseball since the age of four. He’s also a weightlifter and hopes to own a gym one day and compete in powerlifting. At FTCC he’s studying business and computer science.

Personal: Originally from the Bronx, Butler is also known as “Dae Dae.” In high school, one of his teammates was fellow Trojan Charles Jordan. Butler lives by the Derek Jeter quote – “There may be people who have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do.” When he’s not playing the sport, Butler helps coach the 16U/HSU Carolina Outlaws. At FTCC, he’s studying fine arts/music.

Personal: A standout high school player, Carter also played for three NC State (19U) Championship Dixie Majors teams, which took him to the World Series twice. He developed an avid interest in the construction industry as a manager for a small construction team and working with Habitat for Humanity. At FTCC, Carter hopes to learn all he can about construction, thanks to the learning process his father instilled in him.

Personal: Crespo describes himself as a “disciplined and dedicated athlete with a great passion for baseball.” He is family-oriented and enjoys movie nights at home. Crespo also loves the outdoors, and his hobbies include hunting, fresh/saltwater fishing, and riding horses.

Personal: Cummings developed his love of baseball playing with this two older brothers, Jordan and Jonathan. He hopes to play the sport for as long as he can and continue his education at the university level. While playing for the Trojans, Cummings is studying health & fitness science at FTCC.

Personal: In addition to baseball, Dickerson has a love for other sports. His favorite teams are the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, the University of Virginia and Ohio State. Dickerson’s inspiration on the baseball field comes from his younger sister, Robbie Joy, who passed away after an asthma attack. To honor her when he plays, he draws the letter “R” in the dirt.

Personal: Nicknamed “T-Dove” or “TD,” Dove graduated from South View in 2013. He played baseball all four years in high school. During his senior year, he was selected as All-Conference and played in the Senior Showcase. When he’s not playing baseball, he enjoys basketball, bowling, and riding four wheelers. Like some of his teammates, he plans to obtain an associate’s degree in welding and HVAC.

Personal: A U.S. Army veteran, Elmore survived falling hundreds of feet, when his parachute tangled during an Airborne exercise in 2016. Surgeries on his shattered leg and therapy allowed him to walk again. Married with a daughter, Elmore enjoys hunting, finishing, traveling and, of course, playing baseball. He’s studying marketing at FTCC and wants to pursue a master’s degree and become a college instructor.

Personal: A true Texan, Franzeo began bull riding at a young age and dreamed of becoming a professional in the sport. He has competed and won bull riding contests. Franzeo also loves horses and previously worked as a horse trainer. He plans to study welding technology as a student-athlete at FTCC.

Glenn has been described as “a seasoned competitor with a powerful presence at the plate.” His live arm clocks in between 89-91 mph. Glenn is pursing an associate in arts degree at FTCC.

Personal: Jordan’s high school baseball coach wasn’t able to get “Charles” out fast enough, so he’d yell “Chuck”! And the nickname stuck, especially with his teammates. Jordan loves his Siberian husky, Skye, and he loves cars – so much so that he can often identify a car just by its sound. He plans to pursue an associate’s degree in automotive systems technology at FTCC.

Personal: Crediting his parents for his success in baseball, Leviner says, from the time he first picked up a bat, his father taught him everything he knows about the sport. His mother has also been very influential in his athletic and personal life. A fan of the New York Yankees and the Clemson Tigers, his favorite athletes are “Javy” Baez, LeBron James, and Gleyber Torres.

Personal: Revels held the highest batting average (.405) at St. Pauls High School, and he also received the Joe Bison Conference MVP Award in 2018. He was also selected as 1st team all-conference his junior and senior year in addition to all-state recipient both years. Revels was also selected to compete in the senior showcase game the same year. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

Personal: Smith has been playing baseball since he was four years old. At 12, he hit multiple home runs, playing at Cooperstown Dreams Park in New York. Baseball is in his blood; his grandfather previously played for the Cincinnati Reds. Smith is a student in the HVAC program at FTCC, and in the future, hopes to own his own business.

Personal: One fact that makes Staples stand out are his various nicknames. They include “Denzel” (a name that stuck), “James” (when random people ask for his name), “Erik” (an inside joke at work), and “Sheila” because he likes long walks and fresh flowers. Staples also dances and is an aspiring rapper. He plans to study system security and analysis while playing on the Trojan’s team.

Personal: As a member of the West Fayetteville (19U) baseball team, Tanner competed in the World Series in West Monroe during the summer of 2017. This left-hander is the middle child of three boys. Tanner plans to obtain an associate’s degree in science at FTCC, before transferring to a four-year university to continue his studies and his baseball career.

Christopher Zavala

Personal: Zavala played one year of baseball at St. Augustine’s University before transferring to FTCC. Zavala was described as a “seasoned veteran” with a 7.3 mph sprint for 60 yards. He also had a 1.75 pop time as a catcher. Zavala’s memory will be carried on through his teammates and coaches as he unfortunately passed away on January 29, 2019 before the Trojan Men’s Baseball team began their inaugural season. Zavala will be truly missed by his team, the FTCC family, and his community.

Billy Gaskins
A Fayetteville native, Gaskins comes to FTCC after an extensive career playing “America’s favorite pastime.” He played baseball at what is now The University of North Carolina at Pembroke under Coach Danny Davis. Gaskins coached high school baseball for several years throughout Fayetteville before becoming an assistant coach at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, an NJCAA Division II school. He’s also served in coaching rolls at Methodist University and the Fayetteville Swamp Dogs under the Coastal Plains League. He also was a previous owner of the G-Hawks Travel Baseball Program, which has multiple teams for elementary and high school students.

Assistant Coach
Ryan Faircloth
In 2015, Coach Faircloth was named Cumberland County’s Defensive Player of the Year. He went on to play two years of college baseball at Prince George’s Community College in Maryland, where he served as co-captain for the team that was on its way to play in the NJCAA Division III World Series. Faircloth’s team experience includes playing for the Pecos League’s Garden City Wind in Kansas; he was voted an All-Star rookie during the 2018 season. Faircloth was also nominated for the American Baseball Coaches Association’s Rawlings Gold Glove Award. With the Trojans, he hopes to share his experiences to help ensure the team’s success.
