Head Coach
Nic Love
Nic Love joined FTCC Athletics as the head baseball coach and college academic advisor in August. 2021.
Love comes to FTCC from fellow NJCAA Region 10 program Paul D. Camp CC. He was on the Hurricanes’ staff for two years, becoming the team’s associate head coach and recruiting coordinator in his final year there.
Prior to the that, Love was on staff at his alma mater, Eastern Mennonite University, as an assistant coach for three years.
The Bedford, Va., native is a product of the junior college system. He played baseball at Patrick Henry CC for two years before transferring to EMU, a NCAA Division III program, to finish his collegiate career. He was a captain in his final season at each program.
Love earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport and Recreation Leadership from EMU in 2016 and his master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a focus on organizational leadership.

Assitant Coach/Catching
Zach Teem
Zach Teem is in his second year with FTCC as an Assistant Coach serving as the catching coach and assisting Coach Love with the offense. During Zach’s playing career he spent two years playing junior college baseball at Valley Forge Military College and Chattanooga State CC. After his time playing junior college baseball he transferred to Division 2 Salem University where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and MBA in Sports and Recreational Administration. Zach is from Acworth, Georgia and currently resides in Fayetteville with his Fiancé Melanie.
Pitching Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Gabe Garcia
Coach Garcia joins the FTCC baseball coaching staff in 2024 after an impressive two-year stint with the University of Lynchburg. He started with the Lynchburg baseball coaching staff in August 2022 as a graduate assistant. Garcia coached first base in his first season on staff and had a front-row seat for the 2023 National Championship. In 2024, he helped lead the Hornets back to the DIII College World Series.
Garcia is a graduate of Concord University, where he pitched for the Mountain Lions for four years. He graduated with a degree in business administration with a double emphasis in management and marketing at Concord in 2022. Garcia also graduated from the University of Lynchburg with a master’s degree in educational studies.
Gabe will serve as the Pitching Coach for the Trojans as well as the Recruiting Coordinator.
Volunteer Assistant
Jimmy Love
Jimmy is in his first year serving as a coach on the Trojan baseball staff. Coach Love has served in various roles in the baseball community. In his coaching career he has spent time coaching in the travel baseball circuit, high school summer and fall leagues, as well as college summer baseball leagues. Jimmy has spent time as the Head Coach for Post 80 American Legion in Vinton, VA. Coach Love has also served as an assistant coach for the Roanoke Rails who played in the CVCL. Jimmy played his high school career at William Fleming High School in Roanoke, VA. After his high school career, he went on to play on the inaugural team at Longwood University. Jimmy resides in Bedford, VA with his wife Cathy.
