Gunsmithing @ FTCC

The Gunsmithing curriculum is designed to provide students with the required skills needed to refurbish metal and wood as applicable to firearms, to diagnose malfunctions for repair, and to accomplish complex custom gunsmithing tasks.

 

What to Expect:

The FTCC Gunsmithing program features:

  • A state-of-the-art Machine Shop with modern manufacturing capabilities
  • A dedicated refinishing lab for Parkerizing, bluing, painting and color case hardening
  • An extensive firearms library.
A dedicated workspace is available for each student to focus on projects such as the 1911, AR15, and precision rifles.
Evening classes allow students the flexibility to work and study.

Course Work

  • Manufacturing of tools used in the gunsmithing trade
  • Restoration of firearms, barrel installation, repairs, and custom work
The student will accomplish this work by performing actual gunsmithing tasks in a hands-on environment.
Persons wishing to enroll in the Gunsmithing program or any Gunsmithing course shall provide acceptable proof of their legal authorization to possess a firearm at the time of enrollment but no later than the first day of the program or course.

Career Paths

Graduates should qualify as a professional gunsmith, able to complete any task in general gunsmithing.
