The Career & Technical Education Advising Center is the first stop for students who are ready to register for classes in one of FTCC’s business, computer information technology, engineering & skilled trades, or public service programs. The purpose of the Career & Technical Education Advising Center is to serve, guide, and support students who are seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate to advance their career opportunities.

Frederick Rick BlackFrederick “Rick” Black

Rick Black grew up around the country as a military dependent and then continued that journey as an Army officer. He brings three decades of military and academic experience to his role as an academic advisor at FTCC. Rick has a passion for helping people figure out how they can best succeed, recognizing that those answers will look different from one person to the next. He looks forward to helping you chart your path to success, regardless of whether FTCC is the first step on your college career or the final destination

Business Program

Can I transfer to a university with a business degree?

Yes! Many of our business degrees transfer well to multiple universities. We recommend speaking with your advisor about your transfer plan to help ensure a smooth process.

Which business programs can be completed fully online?
The following business programs can be completed fully online:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Leadership Studies

These programs will have multiple in-person class options as well for our students who prefer to learn face-to-face!


The following programs can be completed fully online with the exception of a required work-based learning internship at the end of the program:
  • Hospitality Management
  • Medical Office Professional
  • Medical Billing, Coding, & Auditing

The following programs require a substantial number of in-person classes to facilitate learning in these areas:
  • Culinary Arts
  • Baking & Pastry Arts

The paralegal program is unique as it requires a work-based learning internship and live instruction for LEX classes, conducted either in the classroom or via virtual instruction to meet the requirements of the American Bar Association.

Do I have to start a business program in the fall semester?

All of our business associate degrees can be started in any semester, fall, spring, or summer. Certain certificates need to be started in the fall based on class availability.
