What: What’s Next: Creating Diverse Student Bodies in Today’s Higher Education Landscape

Higher Education institutions have historically been environments for white, heterosexual, wealthy men, but that has changed. Access to higher education has expanded over the last century to women and racial minorities. Additionally, many colleges and universities have taken steps to ensure these students from underrepresented backgrounds feel safe on campus. Many institutions have adopted affirmative action policies that allow for race conscious admissions that aim to address racial discrimination by responding to the barriers that have denied underrepresented students access to higher education for so long. However, the Supreme Court is deciding on two cases that could overturn affirmative action policies at public and private institutions, so university leaders and policymakers are determining ways to protect these underrepresented populations. This webinar will discuss the role of affirmative action and higher education and how the Supreme Court’s decision will impact how universities admit students.
