FTCC will be collaborating with local broadcaster WIDU for a monthly series called WIDU Radio — Community Spotlight.

The program will be a student-let effort serving a dual purpose of giving FTCC Digital Media students hands-on experience with digital communications and highlighting opportunities at FTCC and the surrounding community.

The show will air at 10 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month beginning Jan. 24. Listeners can tune in to listen live on WIDU at 1600 AM, 99.7 FM or at this link: http://tun.in/seqMo.

Torie Quismundo, FTCC Digital Media instructor, said students will take turns hosting the hour-long program, which will air at 10 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday each month beginning Jan. 24.

“The students will be on the air and will interview the guests,” Quismundo said. “They’ll have an outline of the hour, but they’ll work with guests to develop the introduction and they’ll decide when to throw it to the next guest.”

Digital Media students David Estrada and Bakeen Joseph will host this month’s program, which will feature guests from Cumberland County and FTCC with Career & Technical Education experience as a lead-in to CTE Month in February.

The guests are South View High School’s George Brooks, FTCC Carpentry instructor Keith Cater, FTCC Digial Media instructor Tim French and FTCC Civil Engineering instructor Cathy Christianson.

“We’re trying to pull in a lot of the community outreach pieces, so the students won’t just be talking about what’s happening at FTCC,” Quismundo said. “They’ll be discussing opportunities for the future.
