Personal: While attending her home high school, Sharon played sports for Seventy-First High School in Fayetteville. She is studying nursing at FTCC; she plans to become a licensed practical nurse. Outside of volleyball, Sharon enjoys cooking, sleeping and one more thing: late night picnics.

Personal: Jillian is pursing a double major, studying criminal justice and psychology. She prefers to be called “Jill” and says she is appreciative of the chance to play volleyball for her hometown.

Jessica Ware

Position: Libero / Defensive Specialist

Hometown: Fayetteville, North Carolina
High School: Grays Creek High School
Personal: Prior to FTCC, Jessica was a four-year varsity player at Gray’s Creek; she and fellow player Christian Murray were teammates in high school. She was Player of the Year for the Cape Fear Valley Conference in 2016 in addition to receiving the honor of Fayetteville Observer Region Player of the Year. Outside of playing volleyball, Ware also teaches a 16U team with the Sandhills Volleyball Club.

High School: Grays Creek High School
Personal: Christiana is her fourth semester at FTCC. She’s currently majoring in Building Construction Technology, one of the college’s popular programs in the trade industry. Christiana plans to serve in the U.S. Air Force after she graduates with her Associates Degree.

Anna Grey Barbour

High School: Terry Sanford High School
Personal: Anna describes herself as a “huge” Carolina fan, and college basketball season is her favorite time of the year. The dental hygiene program hopeful also said her favorite movie is the 1995 teen classic “Clueless.” She’s also the owner of a pet rabbit name Charlie.

Position: Setter

Hometown: Hope Mills, North Carolina
High School: Grays Creek High School
Personal: Like some of her teammates, Emily comes by way of Gray’s Creek High School. She plans on attending North Carolina University in the upcoming spring semester where she’ll major in business. Emily enjoys spending time with her family and friends outside of playing volleyball.

High School: E.E. Smith High School
Personal: Da’Nya’s two main interests aren’t far fetched. They are volleyball and exercising. Da’Nya is one of the tallest players on the college’s first volleyball team. She plans to major in psychology while at FTCC with hopes of transferring to North Carolina Central University, one of a few historically black colleges/universities in the state.

Personal: Katelynn is in her first year at FTCC and plans to study nursing.

Personal: Madison plans to be a dual athlete at the college, playing volleyball and softball. She’s currently enrolled in the Cosmetology Program in hopes of graduating with a degree in business management. When asked about her time at FTCC, she said, “I am very thankful for the opportunity to participate in athletics at FTCC, and I am very blessed to have great friends and family to support me through this time.”

Personal: Paige plans to study science. After graduation, she wants to transfer to a 4-year university and become a teacher.

Personal: Krislyn is studying the arts while at FTCC. She plans to study Forensic Science when she transfers to a 4-year university or college.
Coaching Staff
Coach
Maurice Licardo
Coach Maurice Licardo came to Fayetteville from Oceanside, Calif., by way of the U.S. Army nearly 30 years ago.
Know as “Coach Moe” by his players, he began a career playing and coaching volleyball at 16 years old. He’s coached military men, women, and co-ed volleyball teams with units he served with during his four years in service. He also coached the Sandhills Volleyball Club of North Carolina and the girls’ team at Freedom Christian Academy in Fayetteville from 2012 to 2017. Licardo led the girls team to two conference championships in 2015 and 2017; he was also named Coach of the Year in both seasons.
Licardo describes playing and teaching volleyball as a “passion” of his. He wants the inaugural season of women’s volleyball at FTCC to be one where players make the sport one that stays with them for a lifetime in addition to reminding players about the importance of their education. They’re called “student athletes” for a purpose.
Licardo is father to four children including twin girls who attend North Carolina State University. He also began playing volleyball at the urging of his brother, who at the time, served in the Marines. Licardo graduated from FTCC with a degree in electronic engineering and technology while also serving as one of our student ambassadors.
