 About the Kenya Project

The Kenya Project, led by Dr. Dwarka Ramphal, embodies Fayetteville Technical Community College’s commitment to broadening horizons and empowering students through global learning experiences. This unique initiative is a partnership with Maseno University in Kenya, established to provide students with practical, hands-on learning opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.

Through the generosity of FTCC’s faculty and staff, funds have been raised to create grants supporting Maseno University students as they engage in immersive, project-based learning. In a recent visit to Maseno University, Dr. Sonny Kelly and Dr. Dwarka Ramphal met with Vice Chancellor, Dr. Julius Nyabundi, to advance collaboration between institutions. Dr. Kelly and Dr. Ramphal also received valuable updates on the progress of six recipients of the 2023 Global Entrepreneurship Award funded by the Kenya Initiative.

By connecting students from both institutions, the Kenya Initiative not only enriches the academic journey of Maseno University students but also strengthens the global understanding of FTCC’s community. This initiative represents a powerful step toward fostering cross-cultural connections, supporting educational growth, and enhancing career readiness on a global scale.
