After a busy conference weekend, volleyball remains sixth in DII Region X standings. The Trojans beat the Hurricanes of Louisburg in game one and then fell to the Eagles of Wake Tech on Saturday.
FTCC vs. Louisburg College: 3-1, Win
The Trojans took the first two sets before the Hurricane’s pushed a close third and pulled out on top with the last two points. With a battling fourth set, the Trojans pushed three to end the game before having to play a fifth deciding set.
Rosa Harris (Irving, TX) had a personal best 14 kills against the Hurricanes and four blocks. Ella Ferrie (Stanchfield, MN) was not far behind with 10 of the teams 39 kills and she also led the defense with 15 digs.
Madi Harmon (Fayetteville, NC) added 21 assists to her stats and Gabby Walters (Salemburg, NC) had 11.
Four Trojans had two service aces a piece: Addie Hudson (Wade, NC), Bella Finelli (Pembroke, NC), Britney Christianson (Salemburg, NC) and Harris.
FTCC vs. Wake Tech: 0-3, Loss
After their 10am match, the Trojans had to wait until 4pm to play their second game of the day.
Set one and two were a close race, forcing the Eagles past 25 points in both sets. Wake Tech pulled out all three close sets to hand the Trojans a loss: 26-28, 25-27, 18-25.
Harris again led the offense for the Trojans getting 13 kills and had two more blocks. Ferrie had a personal best of 17 digs on defense with Finelli getting 14.
Harmon and Walters set up 30 kills in the match, with Finelli and Christianson adding three.
Volleyball is on the road this weekend facing Richard Bland on Friday night and Bryant & Stratton on Saturday. The Trojans are back at home Tuesday, Oct 22 against Pitt for Sophomore Night at 6pm.
