co-op mission/objectives

Fayetteville Technical Community College

The Co-op mission is to provide an educational opportunity for students to apply classroom learning in a (paid or unpaid) viable, supervised curriculum-related workplace (thus earn direct work experience) while concurrently earning college credit.  Instead of a traditional classroom, the classroom will actually be the work site.

Objectives of the Co-op Office are:

Provide students supervised work experience in a curriculum-related field with area business, industries, and public agencies.

Support career development for students.

Coordinate network with employers and prospective employers about the Co-op program and support economic workforce development.

Create and maintain accurate, detailed Co-op records in adherence to the North Carolina Community College system policies and procedures.

Through Co-op, Students:

Earn academic/college credit while learning in a realistic situation.

Gain a working knowledge in the chosen field of study.

Relate classroom instruction to job activities and better comprehend concepts.

Network with professionals in the field and make contacts for the future.

Establish solid references for future job search.

Education + Work Experience = SUCCESS

Employers and students we would love to hear from you.
