What is SmarThinking at FTCC?
-
SmarThinking is web-based online tutoring (supplemental instruction), available to qualified Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) students 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Tutoring is available in the following subject areas: Accounting, Algebra, Anatomy & Physiology, Basic Math, Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Economics, Finance, Geometry, Liberal Arts Math, Physics, Reading, Spanish, Statistics, and Writing.
Students can connect to SmarThinking “e-structors” for live, online tutoring sessions or can schedule a session with a specific instructor.
Students who seek SmarThinking tutoring for writing may submit their work to the SmarThinking online writing lab and receive detailed and personalized feedback within 24 hours.
Students who submit questions to SmarThinking will receive a response – normally within 24 hours.
Who qualifies for access to SmarThinking?
SmarThinking is now available to students enrolled in one or more of the following:
- FTCC online and/or face-face Developmental Studies classes
- FTCC online and/or face-to-face Curriculum classes
How does an FTCC student request and gain access to SmarThinking?
SmarThinking is now - readily and easily! - available to FTCC Curriculum ("College") and Developmental Studies students via their Blackboard ("Bb") accounts. All that a student needs to do is log into his or her Blackboard account, click on the subject for which assistance is needed, and then click on "Tool" or "Course Tools." This will take the student to the SmarThinking link, which will then take the student directly to SmarThinking's Home Page and access to an e-instructor. (Please note: The instructor for the FTCC class for which the student is seeking assistance must enable the Tool button for this access to occur, and must then keep the Tool button enabled).
